APPEARANCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

The easy-to-liquify, silvery-white Gallium is similar to aluminum due to its chemical properties. It has a very low melting point. It can melt in your hand! When melted, it looks like a liquid mirror. This metal is safe to touch and is non-toxic.

CONCENTRATION OF SUPPLY

Gallium occurs in very small concentrations in ores of other metals. Its predominant production method is the separation from aluminum and the remainder is produced from zinc ores and bauxite. Only a portion of the Gallium present in bauxite and zinc ores is recoverable.

Mounting worldwide demand for Gallium necessitates the search for additional resources and recovery technologies for this particular element.

It is not included in U.S. stockpile of strategic metals.

WHY BUY NOW

Gallium is essential for the production of high-performance chips used in smartphones and tablets. Smartphone sales are at $1.7 billion dollars annually and growing. Analysts estimate that the smartphone market’s sales volume will grow at an annual rate of 15% to 25% for the next several years.

It is used primarily in semi-conductors. Owing to its power-handling capabilities, high-switching frequencies and higher voltage capabilities, Gallium continues to be used in cable television transmission, commercial wireless infrastructure, power electronics, and satellite markets.

The high-brightness LED industry is a significant driver of Gallium demand. The backlighting of computer notebook screens, flat-screen computer monitors and flat-screen televisions are the driving force for LED consumption.
